The lab is headed by Camilla Whittington. Members of our lab are researching a range of questions centred around viviparity (live birth), complex trait evolution, reproductive physiology, genomics, and conservation biology.

We are a friendly, supportive, and hardworking lab. We encourage lab members to get involved in our collaborative research projects with scientists from across Australia and internationally. We also expect you to be actively involved in lab and departmental activities, and attend relevant conferences, all of which will enrich your research experience!

We are based in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney, on the beautiful Camperdown campus situated in the heart of Sydney.

Join us

If you're interested in research collaborations or joining the lab, please email Camilla. PhD and Honours projects are currently available- see here for details. We are always looking for keen and enthusiastic lab members!

Field work

Much of our work involves both field and laboratory components. We conduct fieldwork across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia (and sometimes overseas), with reptiles, fish, and invertebrates.

We are a collegial lab. We have regular lab meetings and journal clubs and our lab members work together on a number of collaborative projects.
